Here’s how it works: islanders clean out their attics of perfectly good furniture or find pieces they’re ready to replace and they donate all this to the Furniture Barn. Their friends and neighbors from the island come to the Furniture Barn for something they need, like a dresser, bookshelf, small dining table, or a pair of lamps and, with luck, they’ll find something close enough that’s right here on the island, well priced, AND every penny benefits Boardman Cottage. It’s a win-win. In the process, they just might run into a few people for a friendly chat or meet someone new who just moved here. For many, it has become part of the Wednesday mid-island shopping circuit including the Farmers Market. Look for the red building right next to Boardman Cottage, directly across from the Town Office.
